Release date announced for November 16: Discover the charitable efforts behind this exciting ocean cleanup adventure.

Austin, Texas – World Cleanup Day, September 16, 2023: Today, the developer Moon Lagoon and the publisher Secret Mode release date revealed Loddlenaut, A cozy pollution cleanup adventure filled with breeding and survival systems. Loddlenaut will be released on November 16, 2023 on the Steam platform for PC and Mac.

Loddlenaut immerses you in the role of an interstellar custodian sent to a contaminated ocean planet. As you clean up the mess, you’ll need to recycle trash to build and upgrade powerful purification tools.

Loodle creatures respond to your ocean restoration efforts with affection, and soon you’ll be surrounded by new best friends that you can name, feed, pet, communicate with, and even evolve!

Loddlenaut began as an NYU Game Center thesis project in 2019 and has been in full development as a commercial release since May 2020. Currently, you can enjoy a demo at Steam which features the Flotsam Flats biome, along with several Loddle friends waiting to be discovered.

Charity collaboration and beach cleanup efforts

Inspired by the ocean cleanup message of Loddlenaut, Secret Mode and the marine charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) teamed up with gaming charity SpecialEffect in July to organize a beach clean during the Develop:Brighton games industry event. During the cleanup, more than 40 members of the video game industry collected more than 1,500 items, including 203 loose pieces of plastic. You can see their efforts in the video below.

“It was an honor to clean up a small section of the beach, which seemed pristine at first, but as we looked deeper, we noticed so many small pieces of trash,” says James Schall, WDC ambassador and VP of editorial strategy at Secret Mode . “It was a revelation to realize that most of the objects we found were small but numerous. In our game Loddlenaut, the player arrives on an alien world and goes on a mission to clean up the alien ocean. “We hope to inspire our players to be very careful about how we use and dispose of items, especially those that will stay with us for years.”

“It was incredible to see the video game industry come together so enthusiastically to have a positive impact on the ocean. “95% of plastic pollution in the ocean comes directly from our cities and towns, and over time, these plastics break down into smaller fragments due to exposure to sun, wind and waves,” says Sally Ward, Digital Alliances Manager. “However, it never goes away; The fragments become smaller and smaller, turning into microplastics that cause great harm to whales, dolphins and all marine life. Allowing people to make a difference in this way was really inspiring and it was also a lot of fun!”

Secret Mode will share more information about its ongoing charity partnership with WDC, as well as Loddlenaut, including additional urban beach cleans and volunteer work at WDC’s Scottish Dolphin Centre, in its social networks.
